Many auto transport companies advertise the ability to ship cargo to top destinations around the world. But, very few own the vessels in which your vehicle will be transported. Instead, they serve as a middleman between you and the ocean carrier. Steadfast Transport does owns some ships and vehicles, but we do use third party carriers quite often.

Shipping costs can vary greatly dependent on the type of vehicle being shipped and your chosen destination. The two main categories of vehicles are a Car or a 4×4 / SUV. A car is normally defined as being a vehicle that is below 1.6m in height and 4×4’s / SUVs as vehicles that have a height of between 1.6m and 2.1m high.
The cost of shipping a vehicle, say from the UK to some European destinations for a standard Car for example can be as little as $500.
Technically, no. Practically, yes. International heavy equipment shipping involves OOG classifications, over-dimensional permits, biosecurity requirements, destination country import regulations, and customs documentation that vary by market. An experienced freight forwarder manages that complexity, identifies compliance risks before they become problems, and coordinates every party in the chain from inland transport to final delivery.
Duties are calculated based on the equipment’s HTS code classification and declared customs value at the destination port. The applicable rate depends on the destination country’s tariff schedule and any trade agreements in effect between the US and that market. Disassembled equipment may be classified under different HTS codes than assembled machinery, which can affect the duty rate.
